With attentive concentration, Pauseland play their own version of ambient jazz where the poetry of the pause and the musical conversation are at the centre. With flugelhorn and tenor sax at the front it has a ring of cool-jazz, but the quartet’s compositions also draw on the Scandinavian folk and ballad tradition.
